Another Wealthy Black Hollywood Elite Demanding Reparations

What is it with the people out there who think that just because wrongs were made in the past that money in the present will make it right? We see that in the efforts of those demanding reparations for the evils of American Slavery, an institution abolished over one hundred and fifty years ago, more than five generations past. And now, we are seeing the same sort of demands made from Ice Cube, an entertainer of the rap medium, who wants Hollywood to pay up for the way the system treated black entertainers in the past.

“Virtually all the studios that contributed in our narrative, in our pain in our misrepresentation, and stealing our history and giving it to White people for over 100 years,” he said. “I think these studios that we know and love should kick into a studio that’s run by Black people with no outside influences and whose movies and projects are owned by those Black people, those Black artists and directors and writers and people who put the project together should own the projects.”

He added: “I just think it’s a form of reparations from the entertainment industry if they all had to invest a certain amount of money into the studio each year as payment for all the damage they’ve done to Black people.”

So, basically, to make up for the past, and prove that the system is not racist in the present, the request is for Hollywood to pony up and finance a segregated studio so that black entertainers can work outside the studio system.

Where do these people get these ideas? Ice Cube wants Hollywood to bankroll entertainment choices that will siphon off their profits? Is he for real? It’s a terrible idea on business grounds, and in the arena of race…in this case, it is not whites that want the separation.
