Portland rocked by nearly 60 nights of unrest has the liberal community continuing their calls to defund the police, but just about 30 miles north of St. Helens City, locals are gearing up to show support to the police officers. Caden Willaby who is the founder of the campaign who has written a project to display the “ Back the Blue Support our law enforcement” again. After 2 weeks of fundraising, they have thousands of dollars to work with. The campaign is planned to go up on display on July 27, 2020.
In an interview, Caden said he has always supported the police and he believes that it’s the perfect time to be supporting our law enforcement. A lot of our officers have been injured in riots and some have even died, I think we need to show our support for our law enforcement that protect us every day.
When asked if there was a moment when he just said enough is enough, Caden said: “Pretty much… within my town, people just decided to start making negative comments like all cops are bad. In my opinion, that’s an incorrect statement, so that’s when I decided to start this campaign.”
When asked why college students are being misled, Caden’s response was: “I think it has to do with the people in our community that try to push the students into thinking a certain way. I’ve always wanted to think for myself with common sense, common sense would inform me that the law enforcement officers protect me from harm every day, there are some bad cops but there are also really good cops out there protecting us. Without law enforcement officers it would be a very dangerous world.
Caden was asked about the response he had been receiving about his campaign and he said they have had a lot of positive feedback from our community members, but we have also received negative feedback. There have been a good amount of people that have turned on me as a human being here in St. Helen, but overall it’s been positive.
With all this being said, maintain your opinion, don’t let someone pressure you to think a certain way.
