One of President Donald Trump’s signature issues was the unacceptable conditions at the southern border with Mexico. While he was president, steps were taken to beef up border security and stem the flow of illegal aliens into the country.
Under the Biden camp, the flood gates have essentially opened and we have mass chaos.
Not only that, the Biden people know it and are essentially waving a white flag rather than trying to do anything about it.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said as much this week in statements that led to Arizona’s Governor Doug Ducey calling for his resignation.
In leaked audio obtained by Fox News, Mayorkas told agents during a private meeting in Brownsville, Texas on Thursday the current situation “cannot continue” and that the system wasn’t designed to handle such high numbers of illegal immigrants.
“A couple of days ago I was down in Mexico, and I said, ‘Look, you know, if, if our borders are the first line of defense, we’re going to lose and this is unsustainable,’” Mayorkas said during the meeting.
“We can’t continue like this, our people in the field can’t continue and our system isn’t built for it.”
He added that he was “very well” aware that the system recently came close to “breaking.”
“It’s our responsibility to make sure that that never happens again,” Mayorkas said.
It was the Biden administration’s responsibility to head off any crisis at the pass. They did not do it early on in the administration, and lip service is not action. The system is so broken it is not even funny.
Hence, Ducey’s call for Mayorkas’s resignation.
Gov. Ducey said Mayorkas’ comments showed “chaos, dysfunction and a defeatist attitude has infiltrated the highest level” of the department.
“Secretary Mayorkas demonstrated that he fully understands the catastrophe playing out at the border, and yet he lacks the skill, ability and will to address it adequately,” Ducey said.
“The buck must stop somewhere. A defeatist is not what we need when it comes to fighting for border security. It is time for Secretary Mayorkas to resign, and for him to be replaced with someone who will tell the American people the truth publicly, stand up to the radical activists inside the Biden-Harris administration and once and for all end the crisis at the southern border.”
It would be the achievement of the century if anyone in the Biden camp had the cajones to give it a shot.
