Biden Gaffe Forces Press Secretary To Reveal His Position On Banning Guns

Befuddled Joe Biden really should not be let out in public. On Tuesday, his latest gaffe left people who actually know something about firearms scratching their heads.

Speaking about the mass shooting event in Texas last week:

“They said a .22-caliber bullet will lodge in the lung, and we can probably get it out — may be able to get it and save the life,” the president told reporters outside the White House on Monday after visiting the site of a mass shooting in Texas the day before. “A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body.”

“So the idea of these high-caliber weapons is, uh, there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of thinking about self-protection, hunting,” added Biden, implying the pistol is a “high-caliber weapon” despite not being characterized as such by most gun experts.

The problem with this, of course, is that the shooter was reportedly using an AR-15, an expensive weapon. (Where did a poor kid get the cash to buy one?)

That prompted a question from Peter Doocy of Fox News to the White House Press Secretary on whether or not Biden supports a Canadian-style ban on handguns. Her response clears up the confusion.

“We’ll leave it up to other countries to set their policy on gun ownership,” Jean-Pierre said during her regular briefing. “The president has made his position clear: The United States needs to act. As I just laid out, he supports a ban on the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and expanded background checks to keep guns out of the — dangerous hands.”

“He does not support a ban on the sale of all handguns, to answer your question,” the press secretary added…

The question regarding what constitutes an “assault weapon” has never been answered, but that does not mean that the Democrats are interested in discussing that.

They don’t want to talk about mental health, either, which plays a role in every mass shooting of late.
