It was once the mightiest name in cable news. It is CNN, and it is hemorrhaging viewers at a rate that suggests the advertising dollars spent to keep it afloat are just one revenue source for the place.
“CNN saw staggering declines, shedding nearly 90% of its early 2021 audience in multiple categories. CNN averaged 2.7 million viewers from Jan. 4-10 last year as the network experienced a brief post-election spike but plummeted to only 548,000 average viewers last week, for a stunning year-over-year drop of 80% of its total audience,” Fox News reports.
“Fox News has now outdrawn CNN and MSNBC combined for 21 straight weeks. Fox also outdrew NFL-heavy ESPN’s 1.1 million viewers to finish as the most-watched basic cable option.”
Or it could just be that their programming, frankly, sucks.
Whatever is the case, the once-mighty CNN is in freefall mode now that the January 6 narrative has fallen apart, and as more Americans are aware of COVID being not what we were told, let alone two years of government control nonsense. The leftist cable channels are simply not attractive to the Americans actually still watching cable news, and that was made perfectly clear in this week’s Neilsons. That being the case, how are the doors still open as the ratings are what is used to sell airtime for advertising, which pays the on-air “talent” their salaries.
