Florida Sheriff Tells The Community To Shoot Intruders

In Santa Rosa County, Florida, a frequent customer of the sheriff’s department was involved in an almost shooting while breaking and entering a residence. It is not clear which resident shot at the career criminal, but the sheriff of that particular place has a message for the person with the gun.

Santa Rosa Sheriff Bob Johnson made the remarks after an unidentified Sunshine Stater fired at a burglar with at least 17 arrests on his record last week.

Johnson declared that the property owner shouldn’t be afraid to come forward because they had done nothing wrong.

“If someone breaks unto your house you are more than welcome to shoot them in Santa Rosa County,” Johnson deadpanned in front of reporters. “We prefer that you do, actually.”

He politely offered firearm lessons to the resident to improve their aim.

“You’re not in trouble,” he said. “Come see us. We have a gun safety class we put on every other Saturday. If you take that you’ll shoot a lot better and hopefully you’ll save taxpayers money.”

Sounds incredible? Well, it is not. It actually happened.

The state of Florida, actually, permits homeowners to defend themselves…which all states should do, but some don’t.

Florida’s so-called “stand your ground” law specifies that a home dweller faced with an intruder “has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and use or threaten to use.”

The “frequent flyer” as the sheriff calls him is off to jail again after the spree that resulted in police surrounding him before his capture. He was busy breaking into a number of houses in a neighborhood and one fed-up person took a shot.

If all police were of this disposition and being shot by the victims might well be the real result of crime, the crime rate would most assuredly drop.

Fire a warning shot…straight to the head. Gun control is hitting the target with the first shoe.
