Anyone who has watched the manipulation of women over the years could see it coming. When one of the nation’s most recognizable groups for girls, and women, the Girl Scouts, sent out a tweet congratulating Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett on her elevation to the high court, the mean girls who are convinced that abortion is the one and only right in America got mad and threw a collective tantrum.
“What kind of patch does one earn for uplifting a woman who is the antithesis of justice?” tweeted U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.
Actor Amber Tamblyn tweeted that the Girl Scouts’ post is “really disappointing and won’t age well when access to safe abortion and the healthcare needs of millions of women and girls is gutted in this country because of Barrett’s addition to the court.”…
How sad for these women who do not realize that as a mother of seven children Mrs. Barrett may know a thing or two about “woman’s health” and the justice that goes with it.
Of course, the Girl Scouts, being the sort of reactionary group they are, just couldn’t stand the criticism and not being worshiped by the entire prom court, and so they retracted what was actually a very generic congratulatory message:
“Earlier today, we shared a post highlighting the five women who have been appointed to the Supreme Court. It was quickly viewed as a political and partisan statement which was not our intent and we have removed the post… Girl Scouts of the USA is a nonpolitical, nonpartisan organization. We are neither red nor blue, but Girl Scout GREEN. We are here to lift up girls and women.”
Correction: the Girl Scouts are YELLOW through and through, cowards for being caught between forces they would rather not be, and not standing their ground on being a voice for all women, red or blue, not to mention born and unborn.
Yet again the group that so many American women grew up inside, where we learned basic survival skills, and how to have fun around a campfire disappoints in trying to be all things to all people when that is impossible by any standard.
Years ago, Thin Mints were dead to me. They still are and will be in the future.
