Whatever New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is smoking, I wish he would share. The man who sent COVID-19 patients into nursing homes where potential victims of the disease are essentially sitting ducks now is blaming the police and their lack of a plan to counter the increasing gun violence in a city with restrictive gun control laws for the lawlessness destroying New York City.
You can’t make this stuff up.
‘You cannot dismiss these numbers,’ Cuomo said Monday during a press conference. ‘You cannot look at this reality and say it doesn’t exist, because the reality is so clear.’
Cuomo said that in NYC, data showed that more than 90 percent of the victims ‘are black and brown.’
‘You want to talk about social justice? You want to talk about civil rights? You want to talk about social equity? How do you explain that?’ Cuomo said, of the substantial uptick in shootings with minority victims.
‘It’s not just New York City. It’s all across the nation,’ Cuomo added.
While that is true to an extent, the violence currently in the United States just happens to be worst in the locales where the general public, not including criminals who have no regard for the law in the first place, is not armed due to restrictive gun control laws.
How the police are supposed to deal with that detail, as well as the disregard for human life rampant among the people doing the violence these days, is anyone’s guess.
The violence itself will most likely be blamed on the “protests” being carried out by those supposedly horrified by the death of George Floyd in Minnesota. (How looting and rioting are mollifying the people offended is anyone’s guess.) Some reports talk about the nation being in lockdown and the inevitable stir craziness that comes with isolation.
