The stigma of alcohol consumption in the United States is one that can be tough to shake. We are constantly bombarded with messages having to do with “DRINK THIS MORE” and “DO NOT DRINK, IT IS DESTRUCTIVE” on a daily basis.
Moderation, of course, is the key, but some people really do have to learn that the hard way.
Enter Fox 5 Las Vegas morning weekday anchor and reporter Feven Kiflegiorgis, an Eastern Africa native who grew up in California. It seems that for the second time in less than a month. she has had a brush with the police over the results of drinking and driving.
The first incident involved reckless driving, a one thousand dollar fine, and time away from the airwaves. Kiflegiorgis admitted the event on the air.
“Many of you noticed I’ve been off-air for a few weeks,” Kiflegiorgis told viewers. “To all of you who have reached out, a sincere thank you for your concern.”
Kiflegiorgis said the incident was a “private matter,” but wanted to provide some transparency.
“Last month, I was arrested by Metro for driving under the influence,” she said. “At the time of the arrest, I was inside of a parking vehicle in a Las Vegas neighborhood alone.”
Kiflegiorgis, known as Feven Kay, told cops she didn’t remember how she got to the location where she was found.
Whatever the case is, two brushes with the law in a short period of time involving alcohol is indicative of a problem.
