The liberal loon legislators of the California Assembly recently passed a bill that goes far beyond the pale…
Without any debate and against the advice of Dr. Quentin Van Meter, a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist the California Assembly members passed AB 2218.
AB 2218 is a Bill authored by Assemblyman Miguel Santiago, a Los Angeles Democrat representative, that establishes an “LGBT Transgender Wellness Fund.” The fund will provide grants to nonprofits, healthcare clinics (like Planned Parenthood), hospitals, and other medical providers that supply puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for minors. The fund will also have provisions for adults seeking similar drugs for “sex-change” operations.
The liberal loons originally asked for a $15 million dollar allocation to jump-start the fund but removed that amount from the text before the vote and the legislature will determine an amount to start the fund at a later date… The important thing apparently was approving the bill… They can sneak the cost into the text later when no one is paying attention.
The board-certified pediatric endocrinologist warned the Assembly Health Committee that studies show children who are treated with cross-sex hormones for gender confusion experience “significant mental health issues” that remain even after the hormone therapy is completed. He specifically warned them about the destruction the treatments cause to healthy body tissue, sterilization of the recipient, and that the damage is irreversible.
Dr. Quentin Van Meter believes the state will be sued in the coming years for funding these transgender affirming treatments for troubled and vulnerable children and made his opposition to passing this bill quite clear in the below letter to the Assembly.
