MSM Headlines On SCOTUS Rulings Somewhat Misleading

The Supreme Court handed down some much-anticipated rulings this morning in regard to the President’s elusive tax returns and financial records the Democrats so desperately want.

There were two main cases before the court that were ruled on today.

1. One was the case brought by the Manhattan Prosecutor Cy Vance, who has requested 8 years of the President’s tax returns as part of an investigation being conducted into the alleged hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 Presidential election. They are not trying to get them directly from the President but rather his accountants.

2. The second had to do with the liberal loons in the House of Representatives, who have been desperately trying to get their hands on the President’s tax returns ever since he refused to release them during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The mainstream media, as well as the Manhattan prosecutor Cy Vance, are taking victory laps as though today’s ruling put the president’s cojones in a vice, but the truth is the decisions today got them absolutely nothing in the immediate future and the chances of it being of any benefit before the November election is nonexistent…

In the Manhattan case, the great victory that all the Democrats are prancing around all joyous about is the Supreme Court ruled 7-2 that the President is not above the law and that he can be, in certain circumstances, subject to investigation while in office. The traditional argument here is that to subject the President to the hassle of being criminally investigated while in office distracts from their important duties and responsibility to the country…

The President’s job is an important job with great responsibility and it has been traditionally thought that they need to be able to devote all of their attention to that job… No one wants the President worried about some deadline for a legal motion when making life or death decisions for the country… It actually makes sense… For those who disagree, I promise you as soon as the next Democrat President is faced with an investigation, the concept will again become important.

While it is true that the Supreme Court ruled that the President is not immune from prosecution while serving as President, the devil is often in the details as the saying goes, or in this case the rulings footnotes… The court also acknowledged that “Presidents may challenge specific subpoenas as impeding their Article II functions.” They went on to agree that the case will be remanded to the District Court… In other words, the battle continues… Yes, they can investigate and attempt to prosecute the President, but they still have to make their case before the lower court and there is essentially no chance anything will happen before the election in November and this could be litigated for God knows how long before eventually ending back up in the Supreme Court again. Not exactly a home run for the Manhattan prosecutor.

In the other case before the court, the issue was in regard to the right of Congress to subpoena the President’s financial records for oversight. The ruling here was also not exactly a surprise or victory worthy of celebration and parades… The court agrees that Congress has the right to subpoena documents for oversight purposes, but there must be an adequate account of the significant oversite powers… i.e.,… They can’t just say hand them over, “because.” So where does that leave things? Back to the lower courts to litigate the details which may eventually end up back in the Supreme Court…

So, in my opinion… The bottom line is no one got anywhere… Yes, they affirmed a couple of things that were no brainers… A president is not above the law, can be investigated and even criminally charged… We also got an affirmation from the court that Congress has the right to subpoena documents as part of their oversite function… Is there anyone really surprised by any of this? I’m not… I’m sure most of those who are reading something on a site like this are not surprised either… Perhaps for the liberal loons that have never read the Constitution and take everything the morons at CNN and MSNBC as the Gospel, there is reason to be elated and believe these decisions are somehow special… But this is basic stuff…

This is the equivalent of someone running a marathon with a hurdle to jump every 100 yards and they just cleared the first hurdle without tripping on their Johnson… They still got a long way to go before they see the finish line.
