The images and video from New York City during and after Hurricane Ida blew through town were just catastrophic. The subways were flooded. Water was pouring into apartments via plumbing that would normally lead to the sewer system. One video actually depicted a man lying on a raft in an ally that was flooded.
The whole place, it seemed, was washed out, and this is not even ten years after SuperStorm Sandy that also flooded the subway system and, in fact, blew sharks into the lower levels of buildings.
“We needed more advance notice from the NWS,” Ocasio-Cortez said at a press conference Monday.
“I don’t blame climate change. I blame the mayor,” one resident said after de Blasio, Ocasio-Cortez, and other officials toured her block, according to the New York Post.
“There was absolutely no warning,” the resident continued. “I wasn’t expecting water from my own drain to be the one that’s going to kill me.”
“How come you’re not in this community? You don’t give a s***!” the woman said to Ocasio-Cortez, according to the New York Post.
How Democrats in New York survive from election to election is a mystery, that’s for sure. They truly do not do the best for the people there, at least when it comes to infrastructure preventing flooding during a storm.
