The invasion of the Capitol Building in Washington on January 6, 2021, has become a political hot potato that draws all sorts of odd individuals.
First, there was the man dressed as a shaman who claimed to be part of “Qanon,” whatever that actually is.
Next, as identified by many, there were assets from the federal law enforcement agencies around the Capitol that day.
And now, in Clearwater, Florida, a man was arrested at some sort of January 6 remembrance rally carrying a pipe bomb among other objects.
The incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 6 when supporters of Jeremy Brown, a Tampa member of the Oath Keepers who is currently incarcerated and facing federal charges for his actions at the Capitol riot, were holding a rally in front of the jail, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
Brown was arrested after pictures surfaced of him in tactical gear inside the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021.
When federal authorities searched Brown’s home, agents found a sawed-off shotgun, a short-barrel rifle, hand grenades, and more than 8,000 rounds of ammunition, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
A federal judge ordered Brown without bond until trial.
The rally was held by supporters on the first anniversary of the Capitol riot and featured some local lawmakers and Brown – via telephone – as speakers, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
Events were underway when two deputies spotted a suspicious person dressed entirely in black with a balaclava covering his face who appeared to be sneaking away from the rally. He was later identified as 22-year-old Garrett James Smith directly associated with ANTIFA as noted on the arrest document.
Being conspicuous is not one of this group’s strong suits, that is for sure.
Whatever is going on, the attempts to paint the January 6 invasion of the Capitol Building as an insurrection are failing nationwide. The narrative really is not supported by the video evidence, and all of the attempts to paint the entire affair as such are really looking silly. That people are sitting in jail in Washington without being charged in relation to the event is disgraceful, and that does not look to be changing any time soon.
