Southwest Airlines Makes HUGE Mistake With Two Passengers

It is a sad day in America when a mother is accused of doing the unthinkable to her child. It happened in the Denver airport when employees of Southwest Airlines got it into their heads that a white mother with a bi-racial child was trafficking her daughter.

Moira MacCarthy 10, could be heard crying with fright after she and her mother, Mary MacCarthy, 42, were confronted by a Southwest staffer at Denver International Airport on October 22, with the pair taking the flight after MacCarthy’s brother died suddenly the night before.

As if the death of a family member wasn’t enough of a traumatizing event, the poor child now has memories to pile onto other bad memories. MacCarthy caught the confrontation on film.

The clip shows a Southwest staffer and two airport cops explaining why MacCarthy and her biological daughter have been pulled aside, with the shocked mom pulling out her phone to film the incident after explaining that she is too shaken by the incident to take notes.

‘It’s okay sweetheart,’ the concerned mother can be heard saying in the three-minute video as her daughter repeatedly sobs with fear after being confronted by the two armed officers and the Southwest rep.

The concerned mom could also be heard saying: ‘I have a daughter, who has unfortunately already been traumatized by police in her life.’

MacCarthy was told that she was displaying suspicious behavior. The woman has other ideas, though.

Maddened by such an insinuation, MacCarthy slammed both the airline and the Denver Police Department, saying the anonymous staffer’s suspicion was a ‘racist assumption about a mixed-race family.’

‘The day of the incident, it was clear to me that my family was racially profiled,’ MacCarthy told DailyMail.com in an emotional interview.

Perhaps, but bi-racial families are not uncommon, and what tipped the Southwest employees to make such a claim?

According to the police report, the attendant told police she was suspicious due to the fact that the mother-daughter duo was the last to board the plane – and because MacCarthy asked other passengers to move seats so she could sit next to her daughter.

The attendant also told officers that the pair did not speak to each other once during the entire flight, the report states.

If that’s all it takes to be suspicious, many of us who fly would have been arrested long ago.

MacCarthy is taking legal action against the airline and the Denver police.

Sue Southwest Airlines to the graveyard of soon to be social justice warriors and companies until we clean this shit up and stop these stupid, stupid a-holes from destroying our lives along with their own miserable lives and existence. I hope Southwest has to pay out millions in damages.

Hard to say on this one. But this couple was not vetted when they got the plane tickets? Still, terrible way to handle this. Southwest has had other issues too. Perhaps its time for them to go the way of Braniff?

The child and mother were already mourning the loss of a family member so this outrage makes it more heartbreaking. Hopefully the mother succeeds with her legal demands.
I wonder about all those secret flights all over the country with people who have illegally crossed the border. There are reports of children actually being trafficked by criminals on those government sanctioned flights but no actions are taken to protect them.

Denver cops hwve a long standing history of corruption.

The nasty karen who projected her rotten mind onto the mother and daughter should face consequences in the suit.

There’s not enough info here. How long was she detained? What did she offer as proof and was it sufficient? This writer is irresponsible at best, or complicit at worst for intentionally leaving out inherent details.
Instead of barking racism, this mother should take note that just 2 days ago a NC child was saved from trafficking by a 2 motion had sign!

Sounds to me after reading the whole story Southwest acted responsibly. As a truck driver we are asked to spot the signs of human trafficking and report suspicious activity. In such a situation as long as they were courteous, professional and explained why she was flagged I would have been grateful someone actually cares in this day and age. It sound like this woman “white” feels as if she has been given a race card superpower.

It wasn’t a mistake. Had the child been a victim of human trafficking, the staff would be hailed as heroes for doing what they did. If she had been found to be a victim trafficking at a later point in time, Southwest would have come under fire for not doing anything. The mother claiming that her daughter was traumatized by the incident is disingenuous. It was a minor inconvenience, and considering what was at stake, the mother should be glad that Southwest has such observant employees that seek to protect children from the growing problem of human trafficking. Perhaps the… Read more »
