From the very beginning of President Donald Trump’s campaign to be president and to lead the nation in a great comeback, there has been an effort by the Attorney General of the State of New York to get his mitts on President Trump’s tax returns. For what purpose is anyone’s guess, but the assumption is that the state is going on a fishing expedition to see if they can find ANYTHING wrong with them indicating any sort of criminal fraud.
All this despite the Internal Revenue Service auditing said tax returns every year and finding absolutely nothing wrong with them.
The court case in progress to compel Trump and his companies and all other organizations to produce the documentation has been bouncing between court systems for four years. And now, the highest court in the land, the United States Supreme Court, has ruled that they will not block any ruling that says Trump must produce his tax returns for the state of New York.
The decision is the first breakthrough for investigators in accessing Trump’s financial records after numerous attempts by House Democrats and debates among federal investigators who worked for special counsel Robert Mueller. The House has been pursuing Trump’s financial records from his accounting firm, Mazars USA, as well as a top Trump creditor, Deutsche Bank. But those cases have been tied up in courts for years, with no end in sight.
Joining the liberal wing of the court in this decision were Chief Justice John Roberts, and Justices Amy Coney-Barrett, and Neil Gorsuch.
What the liberal obsession with President Trump’s tax information is is anyone’s guess. It does seem to be a popular target when looking into the backgrounds of the various Republican candidates and looking for a “GOTCHA” item to attack said candidates, but in the case of President Donald Trump, nothing has been found. In fact, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is on record as saying WikiLeaks doesn’t publish dirt on Donald Trump because there isn’t any.
That doesn’t mean the Democrats aren’t going to turn over all rocks in a search for some.
