Music is outlawed in Islam, and anyone violating that law, it seems, will be subject to capital punishment.
“Music is forbidden in Islam,” Mujahid told the paper while insisting, “We’re hoping that we can persuade people not to do such things, instead of pressuring them.”
Afghanistan’s former interior minister, Masoud Andarabi — who is not related — shared footage of the singer performing, saying he was “brutally killed” simply for “bringing joy to this valley and its people.”
Of course, the United Nations representatives are very concerned about this incident and the Taliban spokespeople don’t know all that much about it as of this writing, but killing a man for singing and bringing joy to other humans seems a little extreme even for followers of Islam.
This is how the takeover of Afghanistan is playing out. How many more incidents like this will there be now that modernizing factions are gone.
