The Democrats seriously might be rethinking their plan to recycle crazy Uncle Joe Biden as a presidential candidate. On the campaign trail, what little there has been of it in the age of COVID and Biden hiden’ in his basement for so long, the man has been busy living up to his reputation as a gaffe machine.
This week, as Biden followed President Trump to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to view the wreckage from the riots, he made a blunder that even Democrats can’t excuse or explain away. This week Joe Biden claimed that the greatest inventor in American history, other than Nicola Tesla, didn’t really invent his signature creation. At the 1:04:30 mark in the video below he makes the following gaff:
“People fear that which is different. We’ve got to, for example, why in God’s name don’t we teach history in history classes? A Black man invented the light bulb, not a White guy named Edison,” Biden said. “There’s so much — did anybody know before what recently happened that Black Wall Street in Oklahoma was burned to the ground. Does anybody know these things? Because we don’t teach them. We’ve got to give people facts.”
Thomas Edison didn’t invent the light bulb? Did J.P. Morgan cover that up over a century ago, that his investment was made to the wrong person?
You can’t make this stuff up.
While it is true that Edison received the first patent for the light bulb in 1879, it is also true that a significant improvement to the lumen producing device was made in 1881 by a black man, the son of former slaves, Lewis Howard Latimer, who was working for a rival company at the time. The new and improved bulb lasted much longer than the original model.
So, that could be the source of the confusion on that matter, but a Black Wall Street in Oklahoma…no.
Having Joe Biden as a presidential candidate is entertaining, but terrifying at the same time. The Democrats are actually propping this man up as a viable person to be the leader of the free world, the most powerful man on the planet.
If he’s really up for the job, it would be a miracle.
