A few months back, O’Keefe published an undercover video of a woman in San Antonio, Texas, Raquel Rodriguez, who laid out her lucrative ballot harvesting operation. Essentially, this woman was paid to shepherd votes for Democrats from mail-out ballot to the box, essentially acting as the pimp for votes that may or may not be legal. Really, to her, it did not matter.
Following the release of that video, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that there would be an investigation into that woman’s actions, and on Wednesday, Rodriguez was arrested and charged with election fraud, illegal voting, unlawfully assisting people voting by mail, and unlawfully possessing an official ballot. Each count is a felony in the state of Texas.
“Many continue to claim that there’s no such thing as election fraud. We’ve always known that such a claim is false and misleading, and today we have additional hard evidence,” Paxton said in a statement.
“This is a victory for election integrity and a strong signal that anyone who attempts to defraud the people of Texas, deprive them of their vote, or undermine the integrity of elections will be brought to justice,” Paxton said…
“The shocking and blatantly illegal action documented by Project Veritas demonstrates a form of election fraud my office continually investigates and prosecutes,” Paxton said.
Rodriguez’s operation in San Antonio most certainly was not and is not the only such effort in that state let alone in the nation, but it is the first high profile one to result in an arrest reported by news outlets as being systemic rather than isolated incidents. Without reporting, many Americans simply do not believe that ballot harvesting like this actually happens.
This woman got caught and hopefully now will pay the price.
